Design Practice & Narrative – Prof. Daniel Henry Bastian
When I arrived in Berlin in the spring of 2026, I started noticing the city’s vintage wall fixtures—small details that are easy to overlook but full of character. Found across different surfaces and materials, they are shaped by time, weather, and everyday use, giving each one a unique presence.I began photographing them as more than just objects. To me, these fixtures are reflections of their time—almost like small manifestos that carry traces of past events and everyday life. Each one holds a piece of the city’s story. To connect each piece to its place in the city, I mapped them—turning the series into a spatial narrative. Through Vintage Berlin, I want to highlight these overlooked details and show how time and decay can create meaning, turning ordinary elements into something worth noticing.
